With more than a decade of experience in wealth management and retirement plan consulting, Kurt has built a reputation for clear thinking, strong ethics, and an ability to make complex financial topics simple. He is nationally recognized for his commentary on market volatility, systematic flows, and intermarket trends that drive long-term returns.

Before founding Ivory Hill, Kurt served as an infantry officer in the Army National Guard, where he developed the leadership skills, mental discipline, and composure under pressure that continue to define his approach to investing and risk management today. That experience shaped his belief that preparation, adaptability, and process are the foundation of success,  whether in combat or in capital markets.

Kurt believes that true fiduciary advice goes beyond performance. It is about education, alignment, and purpose. Every Ivory Hill strategy begins with one core question:

Personal Background

A lifelong Minnesotan, Kurt earned his Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS®) designation from the College for Financial Planning and leads Ivory Hill from its Bloomington, MN, office.

​

Outside of the markets, Kurt enjoys playing golf, cooking, and spending time with his family. Whether it is perfecting a new recipe or refining his short game, he approaches both with the same curiosity and discipline that define his work.

​

He is also the publisher of the RiskSIGNAL Report and The Gamma Report, a widely followed Substack publication where he breaks down market structure, volatility, and investor behavior for advisors and self-directed investors alike.
